In just 24 hours at a Rice University hackathon, I built Mockingbird—a safety app designed to protect people when they feel most alone. It perfectly mimics an iPhone call, complete with a near-identical UI and lifelike audio, playing a scripted conversation where someone close says they’re on their way. The goal is simple but powerful: to give vulnerable people a sense of presence, protection, and peace of mind when they need it most.
